clearing_current status - Online Log status of 9i physical standby database

Hi

we have a 2 node 9i (9.2.0.7 database) with a stand alone physical database on windows 2000 server

We are noticing that every now and then, the status of 2 ONLINE REDO LOGS of the standby database becomes CLEARING_CURRENT and when that happens, we cannot query any v$ views in MOUNT state. we can describe the view but cannot query it. Only yesterday, we cleared all the online redo group of standby database and recreatig the standby control file and after that things were looking OK but again today we come across this issue

Could someone shed some light as to what could be the reason here and how do we permanently fix it?
