How the opened session are affecting Oracle server performance?

Hi, I need an expert opinion about how the number of the opened session is affecting the Oracle server performance.
We have an product suite with 65 executables which are started from a main application. Each individual executable once is started opens two Oracle sessions.
So if an user opens 5 applications, it will have 12 opened sessions (2 from main app + 5 x 2 from the additional applications)
One of our clients which has about 120 users is complaining that too many sessions are opened by our product.
My question is how the number of opened session is affecting the Oracle performance?

TIA,
Costica
