Seeking input/experience on deferred depreciation

Does anyone have experience with deferring depreciation? We're on 11.5.10.2 and we have an asset where we want to defer the depreciation for a year. I looked through the user guide, but there wasn't much detail. I also only see documentation on it from a tax perspective. Any experience on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
