Can't Delete Archivelog from RMAN DB is 11.1.0.7

I am using version 11.1.0.7 database.

Running the following command:

delete noprompt archivelog until time 'sysdate-1/24'"

I found some candidate archivelog will not be purged before a archivelog tagged 'EXTERNAL'. How to delete the candidate archivelogs including EXTERNAL archivelog. what is EXTERNAL archivelog? Please give a detailed explanation.
