SO Picking using Pick Slip # or Pick Batch # or Move Order #

This probably a simple question for those experienced WMS users. 

We are currently doing Sales Order picking using either 

      -  Manual Tasks -> Paper Based Picking ->  Pick ID

or

      -  Directed Tasks -> Outbound -> Order Picking

The problem is if we may have many different Sales Orders picked released and pending taskes.   They come as a group by sales order but we want to control which sales order we are picking.     I know I could do it if I did some task management  (using queuing to users or raising priority)  but we are hoping to not have to manage our tasks that way.
