 Doc ID: 434164.1Type: HOWTO
 Modified Date : 04-AUG-2008Status: PUBLISHED

Applies to:

Oracle RDBMS versions 10.1.* and 10.2.*.  Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The purpose of this document is to provide a step-by-step example of how to create a Data Guard archived redo log repository.

Solution

The DAta Guard archived redo log repository type of destination allows off-site archiving of redo data.   An archived redo log repository is created by using a physical standby control file, starting the instance, and mounting the database. This database contains no datafiles and cannot be used for switchover or failover.
