SGA_TARGET not being honored in Windows 2008 64-bit OS
We are running 10g on a Windows 2008 64-bit server, not in a RAC environment. It is running at Patch 14.
The server has 16 Gb of RAM. Our experience in the 32-bit OS has shown us that we need to leave 2GB of RAM for the operating system and the remainder can be given to Oracle as SGA. In our case that is 14 GB. We are seeing in the task manager that the memory working set peak and private are very close to the 16 Gb limit, way over the SGA target of 14 GB set in the spfile.
Yesterday I ran this sql statement from OEM but it did not change the amount of memory that Oracle is aquiring.
