Recovering oracle in a backup server

Hi,

We have a few 10gr2 databases running on an AIX box with Echostream to do the data replication. Echostream replicates at a very low level. During our last disaster recovery test we ran into problems applying archive logs because the database on the recovery server was left in an open state. Does anyone know what the recovery procedures are in these circumstances? I'm guessing this would be true of any sort of SAN replication type DR.
