Tracking of Prepaids and Other amortizable assets in the Fixed Asset Module

Does anybody track and amortize their prepaids and/or other amortizable other assets leveraging the Oracle Fixed Asset Module or any other automated method which do not involve spreadsheets? I would like some feedback on the experience and issues doing this.
