Loading XML in Database

Hi, I have been looking for ways to load a lot of xml files into a pre-defined schema. We are currently using Java and is is taking 15 hours to load 4 Gigs of XML.  I 'know' it can be done faster. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for the technology to do this ? I am hoping to parse and insert 4 GBs of XML in an hour or less.
