Ability to have substitutes for item components

 Hello ,
     Agile PLM version : 9.2.2.4
    
     For a given Part(Item), Is it possible to create substitutes for the components for the part/Item.
    
     For example, If i have an Item say IC-237 which would need two resistors R-101 and R-102 .
       Is it possible to specify a subsitute for a component R-102 with R-103 to be used in certain scenarios.
