Question on relationship between opening GL periods and subledger periods

Hi there,

I have a question on relationship between opening GL periods and subledger periods.

It seems like I can open a subledger period without opening GL period first.  For instance, I can open PO period OCT-09 with GL period OCT-09 is Future - Entry.  I even can open PO period NOV-11, with PO period OCT-11, GL periods OCT-11 and NOV-11 never opened.

I just wonder why we allow this and if we have some documents on this?
