How to get Purchase Order costs to leave in Project?

When doing project related purchase order to inventory,

the cost will be booked to the project. When the

item is taken from inventory and shipped then the cost

is taken away from the project. That is not the desired

functionality. How to avoid this? Customer wants to see

the costs in the project, not 'netting' them causing zero cost,
