Deferred transactions not getting pushed

Oracle 10g using Advanced Replication to synchronize data between multiple sites.  Push jobs are scheduled to run every 2 minutes.  I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager Console to manage the databases.

Occasionally, apparently due to network issues, transactions stop getting pushed to a site.  The start date/time for the job stops advancing.  The job status still shows "Normal".  Transactions start piling up in the deferred queue.  Editing the schedule for the job does not correct the issue.  I beleive the last push is waiting for confirmation from the receiving database, but never gets that due to some momentary network issue.

I can correct the problem by shu8tting down and starting the database back up, but wondered if anyone knows of a way to get the push job working again without shutting the database down?
