Linux-64, RAM 16 GB, swap 2 GB -- is there a danger?

Hello,

I need to upgrade an Oracle installation from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 on a linux box (Linux 2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Sep 25 02:16:15 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux).

The box hosts 2 database instances with adequate SGA=2GB each and very few users, with light system load that should fit into RAM - there where no problems to users so far.

There is 16 GB RAM but only 2 GB swap configured; no room to extend swap. Swap is getting occupied to 100 % occasionaly.

My question is - is it safe to perform an upgrade/run heavy workload on such box? What will happen when the system really runs out of swap space?

Howdy, Stranger!
