Validity check on item lifecycle status with regard to Parent-Child lifecycle rule

Is there a functionality in Agile PLM to do validity check on the lifecycle status of an item with regards to parent-child lifecycle rule wherein the lifecycle status of a child item must be equal or higher than its parent?   So that before an item is going to be released on a change, the system will check if the affected items lifecycle status meets the rule?  For example, parent part number 5117800 is at Prototype status then its child items underneath should have atleast the same lifecycle status or higher.  

 

Currently it has a BOM validity check, which is by the way very good and very helpful, that will say "Error: Unreleased Item ...." if a new part is being added to the BOM but not listed in the affected items of a change.   Just wondering if there is also a possibility to apply the same logic in checking the validity of the lifecycle status of an item on a BOM?
