If we are not using the cio mount option are we still getting concurrent i/o?

Our Unix administrators are questioning if the cio mount option is necessary for the database datafile mounts when filesystemio_option=setall is being used.  We are running AIX 5.3 with Oracle 10.2.0.2.  If we are not using the cio mount option are we still getting concurrent i/o?
