Recover from old RMAN backups

 Hi,

I need small clarification from any one. I want to clone the database on new server from my existing RMAN backups as of 3 weeks date.

We take backup of RMAN backup files and archive logs every week onto a tape. If we want to recover the system as of 3 weeks back on to the new server which has Oracle installed on that, do we need archive logs ( 3 weeks back archives) ? Ot can we recover from RMAN backup files? Do we need control file also?
