Change of SOB, OU in an inventory org that has a lot of data and transactions

 Hi all
We  are investigating the impact of changing SOB, LE and OU (accounting information) on an inventory org with transactions
We are trying to do this since a new company is buying out all of the stock and would like to avoid setting up the whole system againa s well as converting all of the objects again ( items, on hand stock etc)

Has anybody done it?
Does it cause corruptions on data ?
Would you ecommend doing it?

The assumption is that accounting flexfield remains the same ( company, cost center value changes only)
