Defense Contractor - Common Inventory

 I work for a defense contractor and due to the high volume of inventory transactions (borrow/bayback and transfers) we are considering implementing common inventory.  Any body have experience with common inventory in a government contracting environment?  Did the government auditors give you any problem?  Our compliance department is hesitant to make the change.
