Why can we not ftp (download) patches directly from updates.oracle.com anymore ?
It can be a lot slower doing it through a web-browser via metalink (oracle support).
Surely you should be able to keep a few ftp servers available for downloads - or must everything these days be gui driven.
I don't want to see pictures / adverts / gibberish etc - I just want to logon to a ftp site and download the relevant patch ie:
ftp updates.oracle.com
enter metalink username/password
cd /patch directory/
get patch
Compare the above to logging on to the new "shiny/colorfull/picturesque" oracle support site, wait for all the bells and whistles to stop ringing, then numerous clicks and waits later - I have got to the download now button for the patch I want. Click on that and it runs a lot slower (in my environment) than general ftp's do from sites like sun etc ?
