Multiple dbids for same db name in rman catalog

I'm running into problems after deleting and recreating a database, using ths same name each time.  The rman catalog reports there are multiple dbids with the same name, as I would expect it to.  Is there any way at all to clean out all those old, former dbids with the same name?
