Blank mandatory field to block user navigation

Hi all,
I am designing a Step-by-Step UI for a configurator model that has some mandatory fields (on a 11.5.10 release).

What I would like to achieve is a "blocking" UI field: i.e. if the user does not fill in the field, an error is displayed as he tries to get to the next step. For standard behaviour, Configurator only checks the completeness of the model at the end of the configuration, when the button Finish is pressed.

Has anyone met the same requirement already??
