Need some tips on RMAN for Oracle 10g RAC

 Hi,

I have implemented Production Oracle 10g R2 RAC on Windows 2008 with Database Files on ASM.

For implementing RMAN Backup & Recovery Solution I would like to know the following:

  1. Where should the RMAN backups be placed - ASM or File System (FRA enabled in the Database on ASM)?
  2. Is it best practice required to use Catalog database?
  3. Where to take the backup ? (Directly to the Disk or to the Tape?). Database size is 25 GB. We have plenty of Disk Space on SAN. Also HP Dataprotector is available for Tape backup.
  4. Any other useful tips...
