estimate size of SGA

Hi all, I have 8 core Itanium on HPUX with 64GB RAM . I want to estimate size of SGA for one OLTP system.
And my strage questions is :
Is important by suggestion of size of SGA (sga_target) deliberata number of cores (because , I think only PGA, not SGA -> we have dedicated server ), what do You think about it?. And when Yes how much , depend it from type of CPU ? Is some official documment about it ?
