Unable to add a new contact to an SR after Sun JRE implementation

We recently implemented Sun JRE, replacing JInitiator, as part of our preparations for a R12 upgrade in a couple of months. We had numerous problems, including that my users can't add a new contact from the SR form (CSXSRISR).

They open an SR (from the UWQ),  and click on the Contacts/Addresses tab. If there is no contact for this SR, they can click on Tools1/Contact Center and add a contact. If there are contacts for this SR, but they want to add a new contact, they click on Tools1/Contact Center and the Create button is greyed out.
