Create Install Base Instance with Reference Serial Number

 An item was created and Install Base Trackable was not turned on and several shipments have been processed which are not in the IB database.  We have since fixed the item setup.  When I try to create the instance manually, I do not have a Serial Number field. 

It is imperative that I have the SN for the item.  Is there any way to get these loaded or the shipment records updated with IB instances?
