Enterprise Manager won't load

I modified the tnsnames.ora file on a live server, now enterprise manager won't load. The entry changed was (SERVER=DEDICATED)

If I try

>emctl status dbconsole

it is looking for an ancient database which was created when Oracle was installed first (nearly 12 months ago)

Any ideas how to remedy this?
