Mandatory descriptive flexfields in Expenditure items for asset addition through install base

Hi,
I need to use install base to add and track assets.

The scenario is to use the creation of assets through enterprise install base / projects and using a normal item.

The problem is that is mandatory to setup the expenditure items descriptive flexfields with fixed segments and one of the segments that is needed is already setup for another purpose in a previous implementation.

Can we use another segments of the descriptive flexfied to setup the mandatory descriptive flexfield?
