Is it possible to release a subset of products imported via EIM?

I am using EIM to import simple products into the Application and then running method Post_EIM_Upgrade to create the versioning structure of those products.
 
According to my tests, once we run the Post_EIM_Upgrade method it releases all the products imported via EIM but the requirement is to release just a subset of products.
 
Does anyone know if it is possible to release a subset of products imported via EIM?
