RMAN clone/duplicate between different patchsets
Hi everyone.
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum/community. If so, please advise where it belongs - and don't say "in the bin", etc lol :-)
At my current employer, there is a recognised process for refreshing a test environment by using RMAN to get the latest hot backup (or whenever required) of Live from tape and running a DUPLICATE database command.
This has worked successfully for years when Live (MYLIVE) was 10.2.0.3 and Test (MYTEST1) was 10.2.0.3 also. Recently, MYTEST1 has been patched to 10.2.0.4 (and subsequently 10.2.0.4.2) and the clone/duplicate process no longer works.
When trying to open the refreshed MYTEST1 database, the process errors saying the DB needs to be opened with the UPGRADE option, which, if tried, fails with "system01.dbf needs more recovery" obviously.
