ASM upgrade 10.2.0.1 --> 11.2.0.1

 Hi!
I'm planning an ASM upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2, OS=AIX 5.3 (will be updated to the latest patchset befor the ASM upgrade).
The only doc I found is:

ASM 11gR2: How To Upgrade An ASM Instance To Release 11gR2 (11.2.0.1.0)? [ID 950200.1]

I downloaded the full 11gR2 and installed "software only", because the wasn't the option to install "Grid Infrastructure".
After that there is no asmca!

Now I downloaded the Grid Infrastructure and will install it instead.
Hopefully asmca will be installed then.

Is asmca the only way to update the ASM?
Is there any fallback option if the upgrade fails?
