Recover data from an offline datafile

 Hi All,
Is there a way of recovering data from an offline datafile without making it online ?

There is an offline datafile in a 8.1.7 database which is running on archivelog mode. Though it is on archivelog mode, we don't have required archive logs to recover and bring back this datafile online. Please let me know whether it is possible to recover data in that datafile or not.
