Problem using IGNORE values in format column

 I am working with a vendor database where the vendor decided to use Oracle Text to index a document and all of its versions.  Over time, this index has become very large and we requested that the vendor stop indexing old versions of a document.  In the current version of the vendor database, the vendor has partially implemented this request by adding format and charset columns and setting the values appropriately without doing anything to actually implement these changes.  It was my -- perhaps mistaken -- belief that I could actually eliminate the old versions from the Text index  by dropping
