How to remove incorrectly capitalised asset from the Asset Register?

One of our entities has got an asset on the asset register which they now realise shouldn't be there. It was incorrectly capitalised so to speak. It came across to FA via mass additions back in JUL-08 and has been depreciated since then. Can anybody advise as to best process to remove / retire the asset whereby the depreciation charged todate is reversed as well?
