Metabase Manager error - Server Connection Failed

 Please help? I've installed the full ODI suite including ODP and ODQ. The installation was successful with no errors. ODI is working fine, but when I want to create a Metabase, I get the following error:

Server Connection Failed. Couldn't open socket: invalid argument.

I assumed this may be due to the fact that I use the default ports during the installation, so I uninstalled and reinstalled using the correct ports to the repository db. No luck, the error is still occurring.

Windows XP machine with SP 3 ... uses DHCP and connects to our network with a cable.

What have I missed or not taken into account?
