ORA-29701 while starting up a 10g database using a 11gR2 ASM instance

I just upgraded my non RAC 10g ASM instance to 11gR2. Everything seems to be ok: I can see my diskgroups and even the files created in it. However, when I start up my 10g database and try to mount it I receive an ORA-00205 error: "ORA-00205: error in identifying control file, check alert log for more info"


Here is the error stack:

ORA-00202: control file: '+DGORACLE/controlfile1'

ORA-17503: ksfdopn:2 Failed to open file +DGORACLE/controlfile1

ORA-15001: diskgroup "DGORACLE" does not exist or is not mounted

ORA-15077: could not locate ASM instance serving a required diskgroup

ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Manager
