IP addresses used for SCAN in 11GR2

Hi all,
I'm trying to install 11GR2 cluster on AIX. The installer asked for a SCAN name. I'm little puzzled by what ip address should be used in DNS for the new SCAN entry. I have defined public, vip and private ip address for each node in the cluster. From what I read so far, it seems that I should bind the SCAN with 3 new ip addresses that are not used by the public/vip/private addessess on the node, but the SCAN addresses should be on the same subnet with those addresses. Is this right? Do I need to have NICs for
