Full Backup Vs Schema Backup

We have two separate sets of applications that user different schemas in our Oracle instance. We would like to split up the backups so the schemas used in one set of apps are backed up at a different time than the schemas for the other sets of apps.  What would we be missing if we did this versus a full exp of the database ? What would need to be added ?
