PN:schedule year start date on the new lease form

We are starting our R12 upgrade project.  I noticed this new field on the new lease form.  I have go through the manual and cannot find a definition for this field.  I has a note next to it saying (DD-MM) which I assumed was some date reference.  I entered 12345 into the field and it took it.  This is confusing.  Can anyone tell me what this field is and how it is used?  Is there any functionality attached to it?  Where in the manual can I find it referenced?
