How to implement Jan 2010 cpu patch with Fail Safe

Will someone provide the location of documentation and/or tips on how to implement the cpu patch  running with a FAIL SAFE database please?  Basically, there's three servers, one primary database, second server has the standby database and third server has Fail Safe.

 

How do you shut/start and implement the cpu patch is this type of environment.
