ASM question.

I am a starter for ASM so I would like to know the answers for below questions as ASM is different comparing with the tranditional storage.

1. Who should prepare what? what unix admin should do and what DBA needs to do.

2. Let's give an example in Solaris, as I don't think it's feasible for ASM to discover each physical disk and make them a group. do we usually ask Unxi admin to make a "disk group"(or other name) and ASM looks these "disk group" as disk when making ASM disk group?
