Financing Allowed item attribute under Order Management

What is the purpose of "Financing Allowed" item attribute under Order Management tab?  Per user guide,  "Financing Allowed" indicates whether a customer can finance this item.  Is it for reference only or use with other Oracle functions?

Please advise.
