ASM with External Redundancy - RAID 1 or RAID 1+0

We are in the process to develop a plan for deploying 2 node 11g RAC on X64 Linux for a 24 x 7 OLTP database
We intend to use ASM with external redundancy for DATA disk group
We have 8 drives

There are 2 options

1. Configure 4 RAID-1 volumes and present those to ASM
2. Configure a single RAID 10 volume and present it to ASM

Based on our understanding, option # 1 will provide the maximum I/O benefit but we could be wrong

Can someone please shed some light as to which RAID configuration will provide the maximum benefit for ASM
using EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY with 8 drives being available, RAID 1 OR RAID 1+0?

Howdy, Stranger!
