Does Oracle database 64 bit with large memory on the server outperform 32 bit database ?
I am a Jr.DBA, so some of my points below might be wrong, correct me if I am wrong:
We have been using Oracle 10g database(32-bit) on a windows 32-bit Operating system all these years.
Even though we used Windows 2003 Enterprise edition OS (which supports 64GB), when we install
Oracle database 10g (32-bit), we had to configure some OS PAE configuration and couldn't use the
Oracle Automatic Memory Management(AMM) in Oracle so I can use more than 4GB memory for my Oracle db.
Now I am planning to get a server with a 64-bit OS and then install Oracle 10g (64-bit db) on it.
