Siebel 8.0, cannot start Siebel Server in Linux 5.1

Hi there, I am trying to install Siebel 8.0 on an AWS cloud server, using Linux 5.1.  It is 32-bit with 1.7 GB of RAM.  My Db is Oracle 11g, located on another server (necessary to free up the limited amount of RAM).  I can sqlplus and odbcsql ok to it.  For some reason, however, I am unable to get the Siebel Server to start properly.

When I log into srvrmgr ( srvrmgr /e SBA_80 /g siebel:2320 /u sadmin /p sadmin), it connects, but shows the siebel server is unavailable:
srvrmgr> list servers show SBLSRVR_NAME, SV_DISP_STATE, INSTALL_DIR
SBLSRVR_NAME    SV_DISP_STATE        INSTALL_DIR

Howdy, Stranger!
