Recovering Database from a crashed hard drives

We are running Oracle 9i or Tru Unix. The problem we are facing is that on 26 Feb the hard drives went corrupt so were the database files.  The hard disk problem has been fixed, but not with all the full data has been recovered.  We do have a cold backup back from 10 Feb.

Now we have to recover the database, while trying to start the database it says that the control files does not match.
The options available are:

1. we try to start with using the current control files and try to recover the database
2. we create the database using the cold backup and try to recover to the current database
