Global Intercompany System

Hi I would like to start understanding on oracel offering of GIS (11i).

Here are a few details of my company.

1. We have multiple SOBs - all in one instance

2. All SOBs using same CoA

3. Within SOBs we have intercompany transactions (entries posted to different Balancing segments) - This one already achieved by intercompany posting that automatically generate lines in JV.

4. Also between SOBs - For this, we manually send files to each SOB to books entries.

Now where will this GIS product fit in the above scenarios.

Also appreciate if you could throw some high level pointers on setting up as well explain transactions.
