Issues with the 11gR2 Installation Pre-Reqs on OEL5u4 (x86_64)

OS:  Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 Update 4 (x86_64) DB:  11gR2 (x86_64)

I'm working my way through the Installation Pre-Reqs of the above guide (Chapter 2), specifically "Creating the Oracle Inventory Group".  I did a "default-RPMs" installation of the OS with the Oracle updated Kernel included in the OEL5u4 media.  This is a "clean" install of the OS and there has been no Oracle software installed to this point.  Here's the problem I'm running into.  I've done probably a dozen Linux/DB installs to this point and haven't run into this yet.
