Retiring a Capitalized asset that is set not to depreciate

Hi all

I retire an asset that is of category capitalized but the depreciation flag on that category is not enabled. The accouting entries created are as follow

Cr Cost account

Dr Gain and Loss account.

Is this correct, why is the system calculating gain and loss on the assets when it is not depreciable. Please advice?
